As of December 2004, California residents are entitled to one free credit report a year from each of the three major bureaus. These reports can be ordered over the internet, by phone or by mail. The three bureaus have joined together to provide one location to obtain these reports.

Basic rules:
- You, the consumer, have to request it
- Only one per year from each bureau
- You must use the above contact information -- don’t contact the credit bureaus individually
- You can get reports from all bureaus, not just one or just two
How long does it take to get?
- If you use the internet, it should be immediate
- Ordering by phone, 15 days from call
- Ordering by mail, 15 days from receipt of request
